The winemakers - Safado

United by a strong friendship, Emanuel Frutuoso and Rodrigo Filipe (Humus Wines) decided venture on a new winemaking project together in 2017 called "Flui". The project began in a vineyard owned by Rita, Emanuel's wife's family, and has since expanded to include a collection of small plots of old vineyards in the Óbidos region.

In 2019, Emanuel decided to launch his solo project called "Safado", focusing on the grapes from a plot planted in 1955 that he personally chose to vinify. He later introduced two more wines made from Vital and Tinta Roriz grape varieties.

His project revolves around old vines that are cultivate artisanally using organic farming methods. The wines age in used oak barrels, are not filtered and have only small quantities of sulfites added.

"The commitment of Safado wines is to produce quality wines, crafted
manually and with care, using organically grown grapes," is the daily mission
of this project.
