The winemakers - Quinta da Costa do Pinhão
Quinta da Costa is located on the left bank of the Pinhão River, in the Soutelinho parish, Alijó municipality, in the Douro region in Portugal. This 17-hectare property has been in the Lobato de Sousa family for over six generations. Currently, it is Miguel Morais, the 7th generation, who manages and produces wines at Quinta da Costa do Pinhão. With a history tied to Port wine and olive oil production, Quinta da Costa has shifted its focus towards producing natural wines based on a deep respect for the region.
Their vineyards have the highest classification in the Demarcated Douro Region, "letter A," and are located at altitudes ranging from 200m to 450m, with sun exposures to the south-northeast, south, and south-southwest. Investments in the vineyard made in the 1970s and 1980s are valued by the current generations, who maintain 3 hectare of old vineyards in memory of their ancestors.
Miguel produces his wines with minimal intervention, respecting the vineyard and terroir, in collaboration with Luis Seabra.
