The winemakers - João M. Barbosa Vinhos

The story of João M. Barbosa wines begins in 1976 when João Matos Barbosa himself started selling wine at the family company. In 1997, he founded João TM Barbosa Vinhos, which currently operates with two wineries in two regions, Alto Alentejo and Tejo, where organic grapes have been produced since 2012 and 2020, respectively.

This is a family-owned business with a profound respect for nature and the land. They choose to make low-intervention natural wines so that the wine reflects the year and the location of the harvest, making them unique and authentic "wines of author."

As environmentally conscious winemakers, João M. Barbosa wines follow a policy of water reuse, not using pesticides, not adding oenological products except for small amounts of sulfur before bottling. The company is guided by the symbolism of the blue rose (present in all their products), with a promise to always strive for improvement and where responsible production is not just a goal, but a way of life.
